OS X on Windows 7
So I've decided to try my hand at iPhone development. To do so one must use x code (the ide), and this must be run within OS X. Now while the wife has an iMac (don't you just love how I spell all of the Apple products with the correct capitalization?) I really don't want to use her computer to work on this project.
Enter Oracle's open source VM VirtualBox v4.0. Throw in a little OS X 10.6, and the x code and iOS SDK and we have a solution. So far I just need to fix the screen resolution. It defaults to a dismal 1024 x 768. This can be reworked when using the traditional EFI iso, but I'm not (for a few reasons) so its been interesting trying to force the VM and OS X to except higer resolutions. I'll get there eventually.
If you look closer at the image you can see some of the details of the Mac I'm emulating. On a side note, VirtualBox is amazing. Seriously a very well put together VM.
Edit #1: I have the screen rez issue semi sorted. Basically I can increase the screen size but it's locked to default 4:3 ratios. There is supposedly a method to unlocking widescreen resolutions. Outside of that I had to redo the machine, as I foolishly used only an initial 20gb hdd for the first machine. After installing the snow leopard update (10.6) and xcode, I had a whooping 123.5 megs left. Everything is sailing along nicely now though. (73gb free atm)
