Samsung PC 7 and the Razer Switchblade

It's times like these where I am grateful to live in a time such as these. Over the past 2 days I've discovered these 2 devices from Engadget. The Samsung PC 7 will be getting released according to the press release in March 11 and retailing starting at $699. Very nice price point.

The Razer Switchblade on the other hand according to the Engadget write up is still very much in the prototype phase, and does not have as of yet a confirmed release or even intent to release. However they speculate (and I tend to agree) that Razer would not be investing all this money into a product they didn't intend to bring to the masses.

Head over to Engadget here to check it out:

And a pic I found:

The keyboard you see on the bottom is actually a LED based system. It allows the keys to change based on profiles and software currently running. An amazing idea not new in and of itself, but an idea that hasn't seen a place on portable devices just yet. I'm curious as to what the power impact is on this. The libretto W105 however has 2 screens and manages about 2 and a half hours running in Eco mode and doing routine things (surfing, email, documents, etc.) so I'm expecting the battery life to be reasonable.

Now what sweetens this even more is the fact that ex-OQO employees are behind some of the magic creating this device at Razer. For anybody who knows me, I've been a huge fan of OQO, and was devastated when they went under. This however gives me a ray of hope. The Switchblade looks amazing. I can only drool and hope they don't make us wait too long. I want it now.

Here is some Razer propaganda to help tide us over until we get more info on this awesomeness:
