Teenage Engineering OP-1

I've known about the OP-1 for a while thanks to engadget. I was really into it for a while, but then as the updates slowed on its progress forgot about it. Recently however at NAMM 11, Teenage Engineering was on site with a production model. They started taking pre-orders a few days ago, and of course when I went to check were sold out.

It retails for $799.

My concern when I first saw it was that for 800 dollars I wasn't really getting that great of a synth. One thing you can't deny is that this thing is an engineering beauty. I want it, and almost don't even care what it does.

That said it's wrap sheet is pretty impressive, and while the kind of music I've seen it produce is very house techno, I'm sure in the hands of some talent we could see all kind of music coming out of it.

As for now, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for a review, and more stock.

The question is, do I want this or the Kitara more, and to be honest, I'm leaning towards the Kitara.

  1. I would definitely have to say the kitara, but that is me and my limited knowledge on such things. I am purely going off aesthetics of my taste. Either way I think they both are pretty amazing machines.
