So I finally replaced my old Linksys WRT54g. This router support way more memory and ram, and has dual USB ports on the back. Slap on some dd-wrt with all my old settings, and we have a very robust router for my vnc network. I've noticed immediately how much faster dd-wrt's gui loads and refreshes. On top of that I've got a ftp server running to a 1TB hard drive via USB plugged in the back
FTP bandwith seems to be pretty decent. I average around 6 megs per second. So far I've backed all my movie files on the drive. Since I can access the drive from any computer on any of my home networks it's proven to be a nice investment. The next step however is reformatting the drive to ext3, and running a SAMBA server on the router, so all the computers on the network see it as a NAS, instead of having to use FTP protocols to interface with it.
I'm very happy with the router and it's price point. If you're looking for a solid router with plenty of power and memory, you should certainly check this out.
